Curcumin, derived from turmeric, is also known as Indian Turmeric. It is extracted and concentrated from turmeric to produce a yellow powder available in 10%, 95%, 98%, and feed-grade specifications. Curcumin is insoluble in water and ether but soluble in ethanol and glacial acetic acid. It is widely used in feed additives, health and functional foods, daily chemicals, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals.

Curcumin Production Process

Curcumin is made from Indian turmeric, processed through grinding, extraction, filtration, concentration, and purification, using spray drying and low-temperature physical grinding techniques to produce high-quality curcumin.

Curcumin Applications

  1. Curcumin can be used as a yellow food coloring agent. It is commonly used to color beverages, candies, pastries, sausages, dishes, sauces, canned foods, as well as in cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. It has a long history in China for use in radish chips, curry powder, etc., and can also be used in pickles, ham, sausages, and preserved fruits like apples, pineapples, and chestnuts.
  2. Curcumin can be used as an acid-base indicator, showing yellow at pH 7-8 and red-brown at pH 9.2.
  3. Curcumin is frequently used to color foods, dishes, pastries, candies, beverages, canned goods, as well as cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.
